Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi Strengthens India-Paraguay Cultural Ties
During her visit to Paraguay from November 2-4, Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, received a warm reception at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Asuncion. She engaged in a series of fruitful meetings, discussing various avenues to enhance bilateral economic cooperation across diverse sectors, reflecting the mutual commitment to strengthening multifaceted ties between India and Paraguay.
Minister Lekhi also participated in a vibrant yoga event with the Indian diaspora and friends of India, organized by the Embassy of India in Asuncion, witnessing the growing enthusiasm for yoga among the locals. Her discussions with key officials, including H.E. Mr. Javier Gimenez, H.E. Mr. Victor Verdún, H.E. Ms. Adriana Ortiz Semidei, and Mr. Enrique Duarte, focused on important bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues, highlighting the shared interests and the potential for robust cooperation.
Expressing gratitude to H.E. Ms. Adriana Ortiz Semidei for hosting a luncheon, Minister Lekhi explored the vast possibilities for cultural collaboration between India and Paraguay. Her interaction with the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Alumni emphasized the profound impact of their training experiences in India, serving as vital ambassadors of cultural exchange. As a symbol of the flourishing friendship between the two nations, Minister Lekhi and the attendees planted a sapling of Lapacho, the national tree of Paraguay, at the premises of the Embassy of India in Asuncion. This gesture encapsulated the spirit of the vibrant and blossoming relationship between India and Paraguay.
