Prime Minister Modi Champions Climate Action at World Climate Summit


Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India's climate commitment at COP-28's High-Level segment in Dubai, from November 30 to December 12, 2023. Leading discussions, he announced the Green Credits Initiative with the UAE. The initiative, first introduced on October 13 under the 'LiFE' campaign to incentivize environmentally-positive actions by assigning tradable green credits, emphasises collective responsibility for global climate challenges. The initiative aligns with India's proactive global role in climate cooperation. In his address, the Prime Minister passionately urged global leaders to take decisive climate action. He emphasised the principles of unity, calling for collaboration, and especially ensuring developing countries receive a fair share in the global carbon budget. He also stressed the need for balance in adaptation, mitigation, climate finance, technology, and addressing loss and damage. Additionally, by proposing India host COP-33 in 2028, the Prime Minister solidified India's leadership in shaping the global climate agenda. His impactful presence positions India as a leader fostering hope and momentum for a sustainable future.
