Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Italy for the G7 Summit marked his first international trip after commencing his third term. Invited by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, PM Modi's presence at this prestigious gathering underscores India's pivotal role in global affairs. The G7, comprising the world's most advanced economies, addresses pressing international issues through collective action.

During the summit, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with prominent leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and French President Emmanuel Macron. His discussions emphasised dismantling technological monopolies and promoting inclusive, innovative growth, particularly in artificial intelligence. PM Modi highlighted India's pioneering efforts in formulating a national AI strategy, advocating for transparency and accountability in AI governance.

The summit also saw the G7's endorsement of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), a transformative infrastructure initiative to enhance global connectivity. This project, seen as a strategic counterbalance to China's Belt and Road Initiative, showcases India's commitment to fostering economic integration and sustainable development.
