Celebrating 75 years of India-Mauritius Relations

During his visit to Mauritius from November 1-2, Minister of State for External Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, participated in a series of significant events marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Mauritius. The 'UTSAV - India-Mauritius Shopping Carnival' was inaugurated in Port Louis, with the presence of Vice PM H.E. Leela Devi-Dookun Luchoomun and FM H.E. Maneesh Gobin, signifying the vibrant cultural and economic ties between the two nations.


The signing of a crucial MoU between ISRO and the Mauritius Research & Innovation Council for joint satellite development marked the beginning of an ambitious space exploration journey, symbolizing the strengthening technological collaboration between India and Mauritius. Minister Muraleedharan also paid homage to the resilience of the indentured laborers, underscoring their vital role in shaping Mauritius' destiny and maintaining strong bonds with India.


Additionally, the launch of a joint commemorative stamp, the inauguration of a sports complex at L’Esperance, and the initiation of an 8 MW Solar PV farm project in Henrietta, supported by India, highlighted the commitment to fostering cultural, sporting, and sustainable developmental partnerships between the two countries. Minister Muraleedharan's visit emphasized the shared history and the vision for a prosperous and enduring relationship between India and Mauritius.
