India's BrahMos Fortifying Philippines Defences
India's stance as a reliable defence partner was on full display as Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the nation's achievement in delivering BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines. This significant milestone, stemming from a $375 million deal inked in 2022, underscores India's unwavering commitment to enhancing regional security and fostering strategic partnerships.
The deployment of the Indian Air Force's C-17 Globemaster aircraft to transport the missiles, coupled with the ongoing export of ground systems, exemplifies India's proactive approach to fulfilling defence agreements. Amid escalating tensions between Manila and Beijing due to frequent clashes in the South China Sea, the BrahMos missiles will bolster the Philippines' coastal defence capabilities, reaffirming India's role as a dependable ally in safeguarding regional stability.
Developed through a collaborative effort between DRDO and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya, the BrahMos missile program epitomises precision and speed, showcasing India's indigenous defence prowess on the global stage.
